Dennis Clements has served on the board of the Asbury Automotive Group, one of the largest automotive retail and service companies in the U.S., since September 2006. He was appointed chair of the Governance Committee in May 2007 and chair of the Executive Committee in January 2009. Clements is currently a consultant through his firm, Discretionary Effort L.L.C., which he founded in 2005. From 2000 to 2005, Clements was an officer of Toyota Motor Sales, USA, serving as group vice president and CEO of Lexus USA. He was president of Toyota's Central Atlantic division from 1991 to 2000.
