Jonathan Schneider

Jon Schneider is the Founding Director of the Atalaya Institute, a science and public policy research institute based in Santa Fe, NM. Prior to moving to New Mexico, his career was in energy trading in Europe and Asia as Managing Director of the Astra Oil Group and as Vice President, Energy Risk Management with Goldman Sachs. Through his worldwide experience in energy markets, Jon has developed a deep knowledge of how complex markets function. He has supervised a worldwide energy trading team including the oversight of logistics and risk management and the negotiation of long-term contracts with national and integrated oil companies as well as with energy consumers such as airlines and utilities. He has served on a number of non-profit boards including Santa Fe Prep School and Santa Fe New Music and is an oboist with the Santa Fe Community Orchestra. He currently serves on the board of United World College. Jon has a BA in Russian Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an MA in International Economics from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.
